#Women’sHistoryMonth#-Celebrating American Women
Since 1995, U.S. Presidents have issued declarations designating March as Women’s History Month, as a way to celebrate the contribution of women and to promote gender equality.
This month we will celebrate American women who made important contributions to arts, science, sports, entertainment, business and politics in the 20th century.
Susan B. Anthony was an American social reformer and feminist who played a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement.
When she began campaigning for women’s rights, Anthony was harshly ridiculed, but by her 80th birthday, she was celebrated in the White House.
She became the first nonficitious woman to be depicted on U.S. coinage when her portrait appeared on the 1979 dollar coin.
